Pismo Beach Vacation Traveling with kids can sometimes be more stressful than staying home. There's…
California Vacation: Pismo Beach, Cottage Inn by the Sea
Living in California certainly has its benefits. One of those benefits is being close to some truly beautiful beaches. One of our favorite summer vacations is to take the kids to Pismo Beach. For our first summer getaway, my mom and I took all three kids to Pismo Beach for just a couple days and met up with my in-laws.
Where Did We Stay?
Since I’m neck deep in grad school this month, it was a short visit, but that didn’t stop us from having a great time. My mom booked us a room at the Cottage Inn by the Sea. I had never stayed there before, but believe me, I will again. Not only is the property is adorable (check out the wishing well), the breakfast is delicious. You may have a little wait for the waffle maker, but it’s worth it. They have a beautiful pool overlooking the ocean and fireplaces in every room. It is a little bit of a drive from downtown, but if you’re looking for something a little ways away from the hustle and bustle, this is a great choice.
So, what is there to do?
Pismo Beach is your typical California beach town. It has a pier extending our from a small touristy “downtown” area with souvenir shops, restaurants, surf shops and more. The weather was a perfect 78 degrees, warm enough to splash around in the water and cool enough to walk around town without melting. We spent most of our time at the beach where Reagan and Noah spent hours running back and forth in the shallow waves as they rolled in and chasing seagulls. Harrison got to spend some quality time with his cousin born 11 days after him. We even took a walk around town and got some ice cream. Since it’s way too hot in Bakersfield, we’ll be making our way back to Pismo next month.
