there was a girl who loved theatre, kids, reading and storytelling. She moved out of her small(ish) town and went to college at UC Irvine. Realizing that she couldn’t afford to live in one of the most expensive places in the country with no job, after graduating she moved home to figure out what you do with a BA in English and Drama.
She began teaching high school theatre, which was a dream come true. She even met a wonderful man and decided to marry him after only two weeks of dating. Together they traveled to places near and far and built their life teaching high school in their hometown. In time, they had three beautiful children and lived happily ever after.
OK, you caught me. I’m not a princess in a fairy tale. But, that’s the story of my life. My happily ever after doesn’t always feel like it, though if I’m being honest, it’s so much better than I imagined as a child. Like everyone, my life has been full of ups and downs, triumphs and sorrows. Right now, it’s full of the craziness of being a full-time theatre teacher, a full-time mom, a full-time grad student, dealing with the management of my oldest two children having PKU, and having more passions and dreams that hours in the day. I get up before dawn and go to bed after midnight. We’ll call it next to normal.
If I’ve learned anything in life, it’s to enjoy this chapter of my story before it’s gone and hope for one more dawn. So read along with me and enjoy the highlights!
